Whenever I've met Koreans travelling, no matter the country, they always seem to be well stocked with provisions from home. Namely, kimchi. I was always incredulous that the Koreans I met wouldn't want sample the local flavours. You know, explore a bit. Nope, instant noodles and kimchi.
Years ago, in Korea, a Canadian colleague of mine spent hours preparing what she described to the boss as a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving dinner. It was a nice spread. There was the requisite turkey, veggies and stuffing, dinner rolls and all.
Mr. Chae walked in, sat down and immediately asked, "Where's the kimchi?"
Korea's first astronaut will be no different. Kimchi heading to the International Space Station.

While I'm mentioning Korea, too bad about the Namdaemun Gate in Seoul. I used to go to that market to eat some kick ass Korean meals.
